Fall 2013 FCA Charlotte Update

Fall 2013 is an exciting time for the FCA Charlotte Area staff. Coming off of an active summer of our first local high school team camp, coaches bible studies, and lots of new relationships there was reason to anticipate significant ministry growth.

The first ever FCA Team Football Camp at UNC Charlotte was a huge success. Teams attending included Albemarle, CATA, Garinger, Marvin Ridge, Myers Park, and South Mecklenburg. Each team received their share of perspiration and inspiration. After three days, 12 Seven on Seven games, thousands of water bottles, and hundreds of pizzas the evening sessions proved to be the icing on the cake. Shep Shepard explained a gospel that Imageis for everyone and explained that nobody has a story that Jesus has not forgiven and paid the price for. With over a hundred decisions made, the spiritual movement on those teams is significant moving into their fall schedule.

Lincoln Lawing, Area Director in Gaston County is seeing FCA activity through coaches huddles, team huddles, and campus huddles in almost every high school in the county. Many are seeing the impact of serious bible study on their campus for the first time and the results are encouraging.

Bryan Woodell and Stuart Ramirez are following up on those schools who attended footballImage camp along with Porter Ridge, Butler, Weddington, and Providence. Many new doors are opening to create an atmosphere where spiritual growth is a normal part of daily life.

ImageUNC Charlotte continues to grow in number and maturity under the leadership of Ryan Gloer. The excitement of football starting up on campus has only created more opportunity for ministry and discipleship among the athletes both men and women. Growth has come so fast we are praying for a female staff member to join Ryan and help with the women athletes.

Many more areas where FCA needs staff, local volunteer leadership, and community support. Please continue to pray as we grow into Rowan, Stanly, Lincoln, and Cabarrus Counties for the first time.
