After years of prayer FCA now has staff support in the West Charlotte Area of our City. We are excited to add Warren Stukes to our staff. Warren is called to be part of FCA and to minister to the Coaches and Athletes at West Charlotte HS, West Meck HS, Berry HS, Harding HS, Vance HS, Garinger, and Johnson C. Smith.
Warren is a native of West Charlotte having played basketball there before his college career. A long time ministry volunteer for his church and for FCA, Warren is well prepared for ministry and is already making an impact in the city.
Last year we were able to send most of the Urban Schools to FCA Team Football Camp at UNC-Charlotte. This was an opportunity for the teams to grow together, play football, and grow spiritually through the speakers, programs, and challenges from the FCA staff. Warren has been able to follow up with the teams and continue that momentum throughout the fall season. In addition, FCA is growing through the other sports with many other Huddles beginning with coaches and athletes.
Fall 2015 has seen the momentum for FCA explode as over a dozen new campuses began an FCA Huddle this fall for the first time such as West Stanly Middle School, Cox Mill HS, West Charlotte HS, and others.
Fields of Faith were held at Sun Valley High School and North Lincoln HS. We were blessed to see students share their spiritual journey with their peers, worship together, and respond to the saving message of Jesus Christ.
Most Huddles have seen growth in numbers, depth of leadership, and fruit from their outreach on high school and college campuses.
Thanks to all the volunteers who make these Huddles happen. If you would like to know how you can serve these huddles call Mark Talbot 843-902-7910 and we will get you connected.
I wanted to send out an update on the mission trip we recently took to Tecate, Mexico. It was the largest group (15) we have taken on missions since planting the ministry here in 2012. Some pictures are attached and below is an e-mail I received upon our return from a parent who went with us.
Ryan: I had a great, inspiring and enlightening time. I was hesitant to go at first but I’m glad I went. Thanks for all the work you do and the positive effect you have had on my son. I would love to go again. [Parent Testimony]
#FCARealTalk15 saw girls from all over Charlotte come together for a time of fellowship, teaching, and inspiration. Over 50 women came together to put this event on at Myers Park High School.
#FCARealTalk15 is a special event “Just for High School Girls” on Feb 8th, 2015. Check here for tickets FCARealTalk.eventbrite.com or email DSheppard@FCA.org. Check out the video too (YouTube – #FCARealTalk15) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9TdVcyVrPKg
Spring 2014 has seen lots of new ministry, new coaches, and excitement for summer camps. Here are a few highlights.
Many of our coaches have been able to attend a “Weekend to Remember” marriage retreat over the last few months. Thanks to Chik Fil A we are able to scholarship many of the couples to a weekend spent enjoying a much needed get away while hearing about ways to improve their relationship whether they have been married 3 months or 30 years. Earl Clover and his wife Erin from Stuart Cramer High School had this to say about their experience.
“We went to a weekend to remember as an opportunity to have a nice weekend vacation together but ended up learning a lot about how to improve an already great marriage. We both enjoyed learning how to better serve God through our marriage and learned something new about each other in the process. If given the opportunity we would definitely go to another conference.”
FCA emerging from the Football Team at North Meck High School. Can’t wait to have these guys at Team Camp this summer.
FCA planning with athletes and coaches for a fall kick off. Several key coaches and athletes investing their time dreaming and scheming.
Over 50 students from UNC Charlotte attended the regional college conference in February and 15 are spending their spring break in Mexico on a mission trip. God has done amazing things in a short time.
